Alexandria is an independent city in the Commonwealth (United States) of Virginia. As of the United States Census 2000 census, the city had a total population of 128,283. Located along the Western bank of the Potomac River, Alexandria is approximately 6 miles (9.6 kilometers) south of downtown Washington, D.C.In a new poll, 3% of people in Alexandria, Virginia are interested in window glass replacement designed to spruce up their home.As of the census of 2000, there were 128,283 people, 61,889 households, and 27,726 families residing in the city.
