Murrells Inlet is a census-designated place (CDP) in Georgetown County, South Carolina County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 5,519 at the 2000 census. It was once primarily a fishing village, but has built up in modern time, along with the rest of the Grand Strand (South Carolina) Strand into a popular tourist and retirement location. It is most known for Restaurant Row a cluster of award-winning seafood and barbecue restaurants on its Main Street. There is also a local island in the inlet named Goat Island (SC) Island.In latest estimates, 14% of people in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina have friends checking out vinyl replacement windows made to reduce their energy bills.As of the census of 2000, there were 5,519 people, 2,585 households, and 1,654 families residing in the CDP.
