Chambersburg is a Borough (Pennsylvania) in the South Central Pennsylvania Central region of Pennsylvania, United States. It is miles north of Maryland and the Mason-Dixon line and southwest of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in the Cumberland Valley, which is part of the Great Appalachian Valley. Chambersburg is the county seat of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. According to estimates conducted by the United States Census Bureau for a 12 month period ending 01 July 2007, the population within the borough limits is 17,940. When combined with surrounding Greene Township, Hamilton Township, and Guilford Township, the population of Greater Chambersburg is 52,273. It is at the core of the Table of United States Micropolitan Statistical Areas Micropolitan Statistical Area which includes surrounding Franklin County.
