As of 2008 Los Lunas' population rose to 23,867 inside the village limits due to the new addition on city limits El Cerro de Los Lunas (Huning Ranch) It is the county seat of Valencia County, New Mexico County .In recent research, 2% of people in Los Lunas, New Mexico have friends checking out new windows made to reduce their energy bills.As of the census of 2000, there were 10,034 people, 3,601 households, and 2,689 families residing in the village. The population density was 998.8 people per square mile (385.5/km²). There were 3,845 housing units at an average density of 382.7/sq mi (147.7/km²).
