Passaic is a City (New Jersey) in Passaic County, New Jersey County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the city had a total population of 67,861. Located north of Newark, New Jersey on the Passaic River, it was first settled in 1678 by Netherlands traders, as Acquackanonk Township, New Jersey Township.
