Hoboken is a City (New Jersey) in Hudson County, New Jersey County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2000 United States Census, the city's population was 38,577. The city is part of the New York metropolitan area and contains Hoboken Terminal, a major transportation hub for the region. Hoboken is also the location of the first recorded baseball game in the United States, and of the Stevens Institute of Technology, one of the oldest technological universities in the United States.In a study just performed, 12% of people in Hoboken, New Jersey have considered looking into designed to prepare their home for sale.As of the census of 2000, there are 38,577 people (although recent census figures show the population has grown to about 40,000), 19,418 households, and 6,835 families residing in the city. The population density is 11,636.5/km² (30,239.2/mi²), fourth highest in the nation after neighboring communities of Guttenberg, New Jersey Union City, New Jersey City and West New York, New Jersey New York. There are 19,915 housing units at an average density of 6,007.2/km² (15,610.7/mi²).
