The Consolidated Municipality of Carson City is the Capital (political) of the Nevada of Nevada. The population was 52,457 at the United States Census, 2000 census. Carson City is now an independent city and is its own Metropolitan Statistical Area. Like many towns in Nevada, Carson City was founded in the early boom days of mining.
