Butte (IPA: [bjut]) is a city in and the county seat of Silver Bow County, Montana Bow County, Montana, United States. In 1977, the city and county governments consolidated to form the sole entity of The City and County of Butte-Silver Bow. As of the 2000 United States Census census, Butte's population was 33,892.
