Kirksville is the county seat of Adair County, Missouri, United States. It is located in Benton Township, Adair County, Missouri Township. The population was 16,988 at the 2000 census. Kirksville also anchors a Kirksville micropolitan area area that comprises Adair and Schuyler County, Missouri counties.
