St. Cloud is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota and the largest population center in the state's Central Minnesota region. The population was 63,702 at the 2000 United States Census census, making it the fifth largest city in the state outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area. It was called "shananeed", or "the rich land" by the Winnebago tribe. It is the county seat of Stearns County, Minnesota County .
