Ironwood is a city in Gogebic County, Michigan County in the U.S. state of Michigan, about 18 miles south of Lake Superior. The population was 6,293 at the 2000 United States Census census. The city is on U.S. Route 2 2 and is situated oppositethe Montreal River (Wisconsin-Michigan) River from Hurley, Wisconsin.
