Dexter is a village in Washtenaw County, Michigan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The majority of the village is in the northwest corner of Scio Township, Michigan Township with a small portion (approximately 200 homes) in Webster Township, Michigan Township. The population was 2,338 at the United States Census, 2000 census. There is no political connection between the Village of Dexter and the nearby Dexter Township, Michigan of Dexter, which is located to the northwest of the municipality. Both, however, were named for Judge Samuel William Dexter (son of Samuel Dexter, the early American statesman) , who, in 1824, became the first person to purchase land in what is now Dexter village.In latest estimates, 3% of people in Dexter, Michigan have friends checking out new windows designed to prepare their home for sale.As of the census of 2000, there were 2,338 people, 1,013 households, and 641 families residing in the village.
