Huntingtown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Calvert County, Maryland County, Maryland, United States. The population was 2,436 at the 2000 census. The community is growing, with many large estate homes in small developments off of Maryland Route 2/4. It has a new public high school called Huntingtown High and a new Catholic church. State-operated transit bus buses and private vanpools carry residents to Washington, D.C.In a new poll, 15% of people in Huntingtown, Maryland have friends checking out designed to spruce up their home.As of the census of 2000, there were 2,436 people, 768 households, and 668 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 296.3 people per square mile (114.4/km²). There were 784 housing units at an average density of 95.4/sq mi (36.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 79.84% White (U.S. Census) 17.04% African American (U.S. Census) American, 0.37% Native American (U.S. Census) American, 0.78% Asian (U.S. Census) 0.12% Pacific Islander (U.S. Census) Islander, 0.29% from Race (United States Census) races, and 1.56% from two or more races.
