The population was 28,284 at the 2000 census. Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation and the South Bend School Corporation maintain the public schools in the area. Granger is part of the South Bend, Indiana Bend–Mishawaka, Indiana IN-Michigan South Bend-Mishawaka metropolitan area Statistical Area as well as the larger Michiana region.In most recent evaluations, 3% of people in Granger, Indiana have friends checking out aluminum replacement windows designed to prepare their home for sale.As of the census of 2000, there were 28,284 people, 9,184 households, and 8,173 families residing in the CDP.
