The Town of Monument is a rapidly growing Colorado municipalities#Statutory_Town Town in El Paso County, Colorado Paso County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,971 at the United States Census, 2000 census. Is is named after the Monument Creek that rises north of Monument in adjacent Palmer Lake, Colorado Lake.In a new poll, 8% of people in Monument, Colorado have friends checking out new windows made to reduce their energy bills.Monument, Colorado is located at an elevation of about 7,000 feet above sea level. Average high temperatures in the summer reach 85 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average winter low temperature is 12 degrees Fahrenheit. Occasionally extreme temperatures do occur, with a high in the upper 90's possible in summer, and lows near -20 in winter. The high and low temps recorded for Monument are 101 degrees and -38 degrees. However, high temps in the mid-90's and low temps below -10 are not a frequent occurence. Monument receives more than 100 inches of average snowfall per year, far more than that experienced in Colorado Springs, 15 miles to the south. Significant snow can fall as early as September and as late as May, with March and April being the months with the highest average snowfall.
