Grass Valley (originally Centreville) is a city in Nevada County, California County, California, United States. The population was 14,922 at the 2006 census.In a recent survey, 2% of people in Grass Valley, California have friends checking out new windows designed to spruce up their home.Grass Valley has warm to hot, dry summers and wet, rainy winters. Summer is very dry but a thunderstorm may occur which bring some heavy rain but not as much as winter. The dry season is from mid-May to mid-September. Autumn usually starts in October wich starts out mildly warm with some rain, then the temperature begin to cool. November to mid-April is the true rainy season. The rainiest months are January to March, but January is where the heaviest rain occurs. Grass Valley has somewhat of an Oceanic climate, except that summers are warmer and drier enough to give Grass Valley more characteristics of the Mediterranean Climate like much of Northern California. Snow does occur at times and can be heavy. Grass Valley gets much more precipition than Yuba City, which is about to the west. The winter rains contribute to a heavy fuel loading of brush and grass which drys out during summer, becoming a wildfire risk.
